Grand Forks will soon be home to a monthly luncheon aiming to connect businesses and entrepreneurs to the region’s growing drone industry.
Drone Biz invites those interested in learning more about the industry to a lunch held the second Thursday of each month, according to a news release. Speakers at the event will highlight drone technology and associated applications and business opportunities.
“These luncheons will bring the business and entrepreneurship community together to talk about about new and unique uses, network with each other to develop beneficial partnerships, and identify new opportunities to capitalize on the industry’s growth in the region,” Brandon Baumbach, business development projects coordinator with the Grand Forks Region Economic Development Corporation, said in a statement.
The kickoff event is set for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 14 in the Grand Forks Herald’s Community Room, 375 Second Ave. N.
The speaker will be Thomas Swoyer Jr., president of Grand Sky Development Co. Swoyer’s company is behind the Grand Sky aviation and business park under construction on Grand Forks Air Force Base.
His talk will cover the emerging drone industry and expand on how local businesses could capitalize on its growth in the region.
There is no cost to attend the first luncheon, but RSVPS are requested and can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The lunch series is co-hosted by Evolve ND, Grand Forks Region EDC and The Chamber.
